Operation Guide

Principle of operation

  • Packmat transportation and positioning of the chassis against the container. (For the loading of the Packmat mounted on chassis, refer to hydraulic arm recommendations)
  • Unfold arm in working position
  • Position the roller in container
  • Pack
  • Fold back arm in transport position

Before any manipulation

Make sure the working zone is safe (no person or obstacle in the working zone)

In case of unexpected problems during the operation of the machine

Activate the emergency stop button

Never move  the Packmat with the arm unfolded

Postioning against container

For the optimal Packmat usage, it is mandatory to respect the alignment and the vehicle position against the container.

The vehicle /Packmat PK 317-RC assembly must be perfectly centered against the container.

When positioning the vehicle against the container, make sure that the distance between the Packmat and the container are equal on the left and right side.

Make sure that the PK-608 is well aligned with the container.

Make sure vision screen works properly.

It is strictly forbidden to use the PK-608 without the screen functioning properly

  1. Start-up

Put the chassis transmission in neutral and apply parking brake.

Turn the ON-OFF switch to the right, the engine RPM will rev-up.

Turn on the work light if needed

  1. Arm unfolding

Move joystick to the right towards « arm unfolding ». Unfold arm until reaching the maximum reach of both cylinders. Indicator light 7 is ON to indicate that the arm is no longer is transport position.

The arm is now in vertical position and the cameras will switch to the packing view. You can choose the preferred view according to the dock position, with the screen buttons.

  1. Roller position inside container

Press on button 10 FLOAT and release.

The roller will slowly drop inside the container. Indicator light 6 will turn ON to show FLOAT mode is activated. To deactivate FLOAT mode, press and release button 9.

  1. Packing

With FLOAT activated, push on the joystick to move the roller towards the rear on the container. Pull on the joystick to bring the roller back towards the front of the container.

Go back and forth 2 to 3 times.

  1. Roller cleaning (Optional operation if roller is already clean)

Deactivate FLOAT with button 9 and keep pressing button 8 to lift the middle arm in order to raise the roller about 20 inches from the container material. Release button 8. Spin the roller in both directions using the joystick unitl complete cleaning.

  1. Lifting the roller out of the container

Press on button 8 to raise the middle arm. (Be careful the roller must not swing like a pendulum). Extend the cylinders to its maximum.

  1. Arms and roller parking

Move the joystick to the left to fold the arm back towards the parking support, slowing down as you get closer to the supports. When the middle arm touches the support, activate FLOAT mode (button 9) and continue the folding movement until indicator light 7 shuts off. Confirm visually that the roller is resting in its supports.

  1. End of packing or preparation to get to the next container

Repeat the same procedure for the next containers on the same site. If leaving the site, shut down PK-608 power by turning the ON-OFF switch to the left.

The machine must always remain under the surveillance of the operator.
