Celebrating 2,000 Packmat Machines: A Milestone Built Together

Some milestones are about numbers. Others tell a much bigger story.

This October, Packmat System is celebrating the production of its 2,000th machine, a major achievement that reflects more than two decades of ideas, expertise and continuous evolution.

For Packmat Equipment, this milestone has a special meaning. The Packmat story may have started in France, but over the years, it has made its way across the Atlantic and become part of our own story here in North America.

Machine #2,000 gives us an opportunity to look back at where it all started, how far Packmat has come, and the people who continue to move it forward.

From an Idea to 2,000 Machines

The Packmat story began in France in 2000 with an idea: finding a better way to manage waste containers at collection centers.

That idea quickly took shape. In 2003, a patent was filed for the mobile compactor, laying the foundation for what would become Packmat’s signature technology. Packmat System was officially created in 2008, and the years that followed brought new equipment, new facilities and continued growth.

Eventually, the technology made its way beyond Europe.

Packmat established a presence in Canada in 2019, followed by its first sale in the United States in 2020. Then, in 2022, another important step was taken when the first Packmat units were manufactured on Canadian soil.

Today, Packmat System continues to develop equipment for waste compaction, collection and material handling, with solutions operating well beyond the market where it all began.

More than two decades after the original idea, machine #2,000 offers a pretty remarkable perspective on just how far it has come.

Bringing the Packmat Story to North America

When Packmat technology arrived in North America, it wasn’t simply a matter of introducing an existing machine to a new market.

Different trucks, regulations, operating environments and customer needs meant adapting the technology and building the knowledge and support required to make it work here.

That is where the relationship between Packmat System and Packmat Equipment has continued to grow.

Packmat System brings decades of engineering and manufacturing expertise, while our team brings its experience of the North American market and the realities our customers face every day. The exchange goes both ways, with feedback from the field helping us learn, adapt and continue improving what we offer.

Today, Packmat Equipment manufactures and supports Packmat mobile compaction equipment in North America, while continuing to work closely with the team in France.

That makes celebrating machine #2,000 particularly meaningful for us. It is a Packmat System milestone, but it is also a moment we are incredibly proud to celebrate alongside them.

Celebrating Machine #2,000 in France

In October 2026, the Packmat Equipment team traveled to France to join Packmat System in celebrating this important milestone.

More than 50 guests came together for the occasion, including team members, customers and partners who have all played a part in the Packmat journey.

Throughout the event, guests had the opportunity to tour the manufacturing facility, discover different pieces of equipment through live demonstrations, and get a closer look at the expertise behind Packmat technology.

Beyond the activities, it was also an opportunity to reconnect, exchange ideas and strengthen the relationships that have helped Packmat grow over the years.

And of course, the highlight of the celebration was the official unveiling of machine #2,000, a proud moment for everyone involved and a reminder of everything that has been accomplished since the very beginning.

2,000 Machines and the Story Continues

Machine #2,000 is a reason to celebrate everything that has been accomplished, but Packmat has never been a story about standing still.

The industry has evolved considerably since that first idea in 2000, and Packmat technology has evolved with it. New applications, new markets and new technologies, including the development of electric equipment, continue to shape what Packmat can bring to waste operations around the world.

For us at Packmat Equipment, being part of that evolution is what makes this milestone especially exciting.

There are now 2,000 Packmat machines behind us, each one representing a small part of the journey that brought us here. And there are still plenty of ideas, challenges and opportunities ahead.

We are proud of what has been built, proud to bring that expertise to North America, and even more excited about what we will continue to build together.
